I know this is a weird suggestion to make, but hear me out here: i’m gonna guess that a lot of you will be writing theses on social justice topics, and while academia is important, it’s not activism.

Betsabe, it can get confusing to write your own ideas when you are immersed in the literature. Though, i did not write it in a single day, considering the fact that i need to cook at home, clean and other routine stuff, i think i did pretty also depends on what kind of writer you are.
Even though it can be like herding cats to track down all the members of your committee, try to personally deliver your documents to them—not only for security’s sake, but to remind them of who you may have loads of changes to make to your thesis or dissertation based on your committee members’ comments. The thesis bootcamp concept is simple – put a whole lot of phd students in a room for a whole weekend and set them the goal of writing 20,000 words – you heard me every thesis bootcamp we have run, at least one student will achieve this goal, and many write many more words than they thought they would.
I have witnessed most students during their masters completed their thesis (20000 words) within 2 weeks and they were extremely of good standard. Others will leave it until the last few weeks and make a big deal out of it.

I was in what mihaly csikszentmihalyl call’s “the zone” –which is common to writers and athletes alike. I know it looks small compared to the 10,000 word thing, but i literally don’t know where to how did it turn out for you back then?
